IF-FFS3 Crushing Foam Machine
Recycle Foam Scrap into Reusable Crumb and Turn Waste into Profit

Stop paying to haul away foam waste. Crush it into valuable crumb for rebonding, filling, and packaging.

Every foam cutting operation generates scrap. Offcuts, trims, and rejected pieces pile up quickly. Many factories pay to have this waste hauled away, losing money on material they already paid for. The IF-FFS3 Crushing Foam Machine turns that scrap into a valuable resource by crushing it into uniform foam crumb.

A rebonding plant in Poland was generating 15 tons of foam scrap per month and paying $2,800/month for waste disposal. They installed an IF-FFS3 to crush the scrap into crumb, which they sold to a local packaging manufacturer for $180/ton. Waste disposal cost dropped to zero, and they earned $2,700/month from crumb sales. The machine paid for itself in 4 months.

What is the IF-FFS3 Crushing Foam Machine?

The IF-FFS3 is a heavy-duty foam crushing machine designed to reduce polyurethane foam scrap into small, uniform particles (crumb). It uses a rotating drum with sharp blades to tear and shred foam pieces into the desired particle size. The crumb passes through a screen that controls the maximum particle size, ensuring consistent output.

The machine accepts all types of flexible PU foam: offcuts from cutting operations, trimmings from peeling machines, edge strips from profile cutting, and rejected blocks. The crushed foam crumb can be used directly in rebonding processes, as filler in packaging, or sold to other manufacturers who need foam crumb for their products.

How the IF-FFS3 Works

The crushing process is simple and efficient. Foam scrap is fed into the hopper at the top of the machine. A rotating drum with hardened steel blades catches the foam and tears it against fixed counter-blades. The crushed foam falls through a screen at the bottom of the drum. Screen size determines the final particle diameter, typically from 5mm to 30mm.

The crushed crumb exits through a chute and can be collected in bags, bins, or conveyed directly to the next process (such as a rebonding machine or packing station). The IF-FFS3 operates at a throughput of 200-500 kg per hour, depending on foam density and desired particle size.

Key Features

  • Heavy-duty drum and blades: The rotating drum is made of thick steel with hardened blades that resist wear. The blades are reversible for extended service life. Replacement blades are affordable and easy to change.
  • Adjustable particle size: Change the screen to control crumb size from 5mm to 30mm. Fine crumb for rebonding, coarse crumb for cushion filling and packaging.
  • High throughput: Crush 200-500 kg of foam scrap per hour. The machine handles continuous feeding without clogging or jamming.
  • Low power consumption: The 11 kW motor efficiently processes large volumes of foam. Energy cost per ton of crumb is minimal compared to the value of the output.
  • Compact footprint: The IF-FFS3 requires only 3m x 2m of floor space, making it easy to integrate into existing production lines.
  • Quiet operation: The machine is designed with noise-dampening features for comfortable operation in a factory environment.

Uses for Crushed Foam Crumb

  • Rebonded foam production: Foam crumb is the primary raw material for rebonded foam. Mixed with adhesive binder and compressed, it forms dense blocks used in packaging, flooring underlay, and industrial applications.
  • Pillow and cushion filling: Coarse foam crumb is used as loose fill for bean bags, floor cushions, and pet beds. It is more durable than polyester fiberfill and holds its shape longer.
  • Packaging material: Foam crumb is used as loose-fill packaging material for shipping fragile items. It is lighter than traditional packaging materials and provides excellent shock absorption.
  • Insulation filler: Mixed with binders, foam crumb can be formed into insulation boards or used as loose-fill insulation in construction applications.
  • Sports mats and flooring: Crumb from high-density foam is used in the production of recycled sports mats, gym flooring, and playground surfaces.
